Development mode. Results are simulated fixtures, not model predictions.

Identify a vehicle

Photograph one autonomous vehicle to find its provider and responder helpline.

Keep only the vehicle you need identified in frame. JPEG, PNG or WebP.

Photos are kept privately. Each photo you submit and its result are saved to a private history that only project maintainers can view. They are kept until a maintainer deletes them, are never published, and are not used for training.

Research prototype. Results can be wrong. Some angles, damage, distance or obstructions can prevent identification, and the system says so rather than guessing.

In an emergency, call 911.

Review photo

Selected photo of the vehicle

If the photo shows more than one vehicle, tap or click the one you need identified. With a keyboard, the arrow keys place and move the point on the photo (with Shift, in bigger steps) and Delete clears it.

    Location context Optional

Where you are now can help identification, since AV providers run service only in some areas. It is a hint, not where the photo was taken, and identification works without it.

    None

Your browser asks first. Your position is rounded to about a kilometer and looked up with the US Census Bureau's geocoder; only the city and state come back, and only they are kept.

Identifying keeps this photo in the private history.

    Provider contacts

Find an AV provider's responder helpline without a photo.

Providers whose vehicles photo identification recognizes. This does not mean they run driverless service. Clear to include every provider.

      Incident reports

Accounts of collisions, near misses, unsafe behavior and obstructions involving suspected autonomous vehicles, newest submission first.

Each report is published as its reporter wrote it. Reports are not verified.

      Report an incident

Finds every word in a report's description, city, vehicle details or reporter name.

      Filters

The “To” date must be on or after the “From” date.

The date its reporter gave, not when the report was submitted. A report with an approximate date matches if any day of its range does.

          Report an incident

Describe a collision, near miss, unsafe behavior or obstruction involving a vehicle you believe was autonomous. No photo or account needed.

Reports are public. Your report appears here as soon as you publish it and stays until a maintainer removes it. You can't edit or delete it afterwards.

Removal takes a report and its photos off this site at once. Encrypted backups, kept only to recover from failures, hold them until the backups are deleted, normally within 16 days.

Reports are not sent to AV providers, agencies or emergency services. In an emergency, call 911.

            Identification result Linked

            What happened? Required

What you saw, in your own words, including any other vehicles or people involved. Leave out personal details such as names or phone numbers.

            When did it happen? Optional

When the incident took place, not when you report it. Approximate is fine.

Local time where it happened. Leave the time blank if you're not sure.

            Where did it happen? Optional

Where the incident took place, which may not be where you are now. Reports never use your device's location.

            Which vehicle? Optional

What you believe the vehicle was: who runs it, and its make and model. Give whatever you know; one of the two is fine.

            Photos Optional

Add photos of the scene or the vehicle if you have them. Only the photos you add here are published. JPEG, PNG or WebP; no video or documents.

Photos are public. Anyone can see the photos you add, together with your report, until a maintainer removes the report. Once someone has saved a copy, it can't be taken back.

Photos can show faces and license plates, so choose carefully. Location data stored inside a photo is removed. A photo you used to identify a vehicle stays private unless you choose it here.

Shown publicly with your report, and not verified. Leave it blank to post anonymously. No email or phone number is needed.

The room the photos kept for each purpose take, against the threshold configured for it.

Nothing is deleted to make room. Once a purpose or the whole store reaches its threshold, new photos for it are refused until records are deleted. Reports without photos and the provider directory keep working.

                  Diagnostic flags

Research prototype, not an operational emergency tool. Identification cannot establish whether autonomous driving was active. Contact details come from provider-published sources; each card shows when they were last verified.
